Each Geib Gator Shear is manufactured from a high-quality stainless steel alloy with a Rockwell Hardness rating of 57. This alloy allows the blade to be honed to razor sharpness. Blades stay sharp for months. Shears are precision weighted and balanced. Handles and finger rests are contoured for maximum comfort. Double screw tension produces smooth scissoring. All of these features combine for a shear that drastically reduces the amount of effort needed for scissoring. The result is an increase in productivity and a reduction in hand fatigue. Gator 88-Style Curved Shear has a wider blade and measures 8 1/2". Curved blade helps in the shaping of top knots, tails, feet etc.

Mr. Geib received initial extensive training from a professional German cutlerer. He gained further valuable knowledge and experience from a manufacturer of surgical instruments. Mr. Geib has also received significant training from nine major Japanese scissors companies.

To obtain the finest materials and latest methods, Mr. Geib continually visits steel companies, heat-treatment facilities, forging plants, and manufacturing facilities in the USA and around the world. One major improvement resulting from these tours was the introduction of ball bearing pivot mechanisms. Many of our product lines include models with Ball Bearing pivots. This state-of-the-art design incorporates ball bearings in a housing press-fitted into the pivot hole. The ball bearing restricts motion at the pivot to a single plane eliminating annoying "wobble" such as when the pivot hole normally wears due to motion against the pivot pin. The bearings provide minimal friction at the pivot point so scissoring action becomes nearly effortless.
